As part of its ongoing commitment to build, grow and nurture Aboriginal communities and businesses, Murrungar has partnered with Indigenous-owned Game Time Coffee to support the 2026 Walk for Truth – a five-week, 800+ km walk from Naarm (Melbourne) to Canberra calling for meaningful truth-telling about Australia’s Indigenous past.
Led by Kerrupmara and Gunditjmara man and former Yoorrook Justice Commissioner Travis Lovett, the Walk for Truth set off from Melbourne’s Parliament House on 19 April and is scheduled to arrive in Canberra by 27 May, aligning with the start of National Reconciliation Week.
Along they way, the walk will visit metropolitan and regional communities including Thornbury, Wollert, Wallan, Seymour, Mooroopna, Munarra, Benalla, Wangaratta and Wodonga, creating opportunities public engagement, listening and storytelling.
Partnering to turn purpose into practical support
Working in capability partnership with Game Time Coffee – an Indigenous-owned brand that empowers the next generation of Indigenous athletes through its Game Time Sports Fund –Murrungar is providing fuel for a dedicated support vehicle on loan from A.G. Coombs, that has been co-branded by Label Concepts and converted into a mobile coffee van.
The fuel support is a direct benefit of Murrungar’s ongoing procurement relationship with Viva Energy / Shell Fuel – where a percentage of every dollar spent by trade vehicles on fuel at Shell petrol stations goes to support Murrungar’s chosen Indigenous support programs.
“The Walk for Truth creates space for people to come together, listen deeply and engage with stories that are often challenging but essential,” said Aaron Clark, Murrungar Co‑Founder.
“Something as simple as sitting down with a cup of coffee can open the door to truth‑telling, connection and understanding. That’s where trust is built and where healing can begin. Partnering with Game Time Coffee allows us to support the walk in a way that is practical, meaningful and grounded in community.”
Aaron said the collaboration reflects strong alignment between Murrungar, Game Time Coffee and A.G. Coombs in their shared commitment to Indigenous opportunity and participation.
“There is a natural synergy between our organisations. We are all focused on creating pathways, supporting Indigenous youth and using our platforms to enable stronger outcomes for communities.”
Russell Telford, A.G. Coombs Group Managing Director, said the initiative demonstrates reconciliation in action.
“Supporting the Walk for Truth alongside Murrungar and Game Time Coffee reinforces the importance of partnerships that are values‑led and community‑focused. Creating opportunities for conversation and connection is a powerful way to support truth‑telling.”
Across the Victorian leg of the journey, the coffee van will provide refreshments to walkers and community members, encouraging people to pause, reflect and participate in respectful dialogue.
For Murrungar, the Walk for Truth represents an opportunity to listen, learn and play a practical role in advancing reconciliation through action, not rhetoric.
